Meet Team Sizl
Spice Queen
Mallika Basu
A busy corporate communications professional and mum of two, Mallika indulged her passion for food writing in a food blog going on to publish two popular Indian cookbooks: Miss Masala (Harper Collins, 2010) and Masala (Bloomsbury, 2018). She writes for the London Evening Standard and speaks on radio and TV about the “discovery” of turmeric and other such nonsense. Mallika understands the daily challenge of empty fridges, late working nights and an overflowing spice cupboard and is here to make sure they zing for you.

Spice Guru
Amar Dani
With a small family loan in his pocket, Amar decided to turn his love of spices into a successful business. In just over a decade, he built an organic spice empire supplying to some of the biggest retailers and food businesses around Europe. Amar is a keen cook and spice geek who can bore you senseless about the difference between Indian and European coriander, and Indonesian and African turmeric. He personally oversees all our spice blends and will never sell anything he wouldn’t use.
Spice Master
Dipen Arya
With the best of intentions for a career as an economist, Dipen Arya lost his way after a fateful encounter with Amar and the rest of us aren’t complaining. An accountant with an MSc in Economics, the first thing he made as a novice cook when he arrived in the UK was a Dal Tadka. In his own humble admission it was “quite outstanding”. He brings the same high standards and evergreen positivity to our operations, keeping the show on the road and everything/everyone ticking over.
